Enabling unified authentication & authorization for a leading InsurTech company's product suite

image

Authentication, Authorization, InsurTech, Multi-tenant

Challenge

The company is a leading cloud-based low-code SaaS platform for P&C insurance companies. The company enables its customers to orchestrate their business processes through several standalone products from its rich product suite. Each of these products and their various versions had individual means to authenticate and authorize end users. Thus, the company was unable to provide an integrated suite experience to the end users. The company sought to enable an unified B2C authentication & authorization across different versions of each of these products and enable a single suite experience to its end users.

Approach

A new product was designed and implemented to handle authentication for all the different products in an uniform manner utilizing the capabilities of the Azure AD B2C Service. This enabled each customer of the company to use its designated Identity Provider (IDP) to enable B2C authentication using the desired protocol. The new product could function either as a front door to all the customer's products or as a bolt-on authentication service provider in the middle, enabling the customers to use the capabilities seamlessly based on individual requirements. The product is being extended to implement authorization capabilities to enable end users to quickly and seamlessly switch between different products within the suite without the need for significant changes to the base products.

Outcome

The company was able to offer an unified auth and auth interface for its customers to implement based on individual needs without any changes to the individual base products. Enhanced user experience through a central suite-wide unified login capability.Set the stage for customers to create custom roles to further enhance the product suite.
